Keep Your Eye on the Goal

I have to remember this sometimes. One of the things I struggle with the most is balance. You know, balance of everyday housethings, kids, business things, creative things and for us construction things. This weekend we threw everything else aside (besides shoveling the 8" of snow) and my husband hung lots of drywall while I played with the kids. Our laundry/powder room is closer to being finished. That motivates me. So yesterday I ended up doing this...

I ripped wallpaper off of 3 walls (it is 90% done.) That was not on the agenda for yesterday, but when the spirit moves you to work on a project like this, you got to go with it.

This past weekend I wanted to accomplish a bunch creative things in my creative space. Instead, drywall was hung in our powder room and now there is wallpaper off the wall in our soon to be dining room. Slowly step by step we reach our goals. So nothing creative happened for me since I last posted but I am keeping my eye on the goal. (Just imagine all the free time we will have when the house is done! )

I am hoping we get the foot of snow they're are calling for tonight and tomorrow. Ryan won't have to go to work and that will leave some creative time. Oh, and these pictures also help remind me why we bought this house and keeping my eye on the goal...

Happy New Year...I'm Ready

Happy New Year! Sorry it is a few days late. The holiday season is officially over! Gabe goes back to school tomorrow and my month long hiatus from QuicKutz Club ends as well. (We have a meeting tomorrow night.) My holiday projects are done, my house is somewhat clean and tomorrow I will start taking down the Christmas decorations. I am looking forward to getting back into a routine and spending some time in my craft room. It looks like the weather this Winter maybe good for just that, staying in and scrappin!

So with that in mind, today I was busy! Today I spend all day in my craft room. I had to clean, and organize first. This is what the room looked like when I walked down there. (My last minute holiday projects always make my room look like a tornado went through. It is the room that just never got cleaned. It is a separate part of the house, with a door, so no one would see.)

 

So I spent several hours organizing, and cleaning. I even put away every single QuicKutz die that is out of the packaging. I don't think this has ever been done before. Oh, I now have a nice bandaid on my finger where I sliced it on the edge of the die trying to squeeze it into a new plastic storage folder. Those things can be SHARP! Ouch, I thought I was going to need stitches! Anyway, here is the after.

Once I was all clean, I got ready for club meeting tomorrow. I actually created 2 6x6 double page layouts for club projects. We are starting the new year with some new ideas for projects and I am excited to try making a mini album throughout the year. I will share those later this week, don't want to spoil the surprise for my club members. Next on my agenda is creating a Valetine's Day Project Class. Stay tuned...

OK so I have a lot to share.

First of all I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and nice time with family and friends during all the holidays. I am still celebrating with family. Tonight we have our 3rd Christmas celebration with my father-in-law and family. Crazy I know, but nice to spread it out. So, I can finally share all the handmade presents I made this year. Most have been made on the sewing machine and not with scrapbook supplies, but it was fun none the less.

I made two quilts. One for my mother-in-law and one for my step mother-in-law. I started these in July (of course, I didn't finish them until 4 days before Christmas.)

 

I made 4 quilted tote bags. One for my mom, sister, sister-in-law and soon to be sister-in-law. Here is two of the 4. They were all like this but with different fabrics.

Finally my one scrapbook type project, was making a magnetic paper doll set for a 5 year old girl. This was made using all products from QuicKutz. I had a blast making it and using my scraps to make the clothes! I put it all on a cookie sheet. I can't wait to hear if she likes it!

 

I promise my next post will have some pictures of Lily and Gabe from the photo shoot in a day or two! It is nice not to feel like I need to be sewing something.
