Spring has Sprung

Sorry, it has been so long since I posted. I was doing so well, but well, life got in the way again. I have been working on some things in my life, that I am not quite willing to share yet, but once I spread the news you will understand the hiatus. Ok, there is a TONS of things to share...

The Joys of Motherhood

One of those moments that you won't forget as a mother happened yesterday around 4:15 or so. Gabriel was at the next door neighbors house sledding with his friends. When the dog starts barking. I look out to see one of the neighbors standing at the door. I knew it wasn't good news. I opened the door, she said in a panic "Gabriel crashed into our soccer net pole and his face is bleeding." OK, it feels like hours it takes you to put on shoes and think to myself. What am I going to do with Lily? Should I get a coat?  By the time I decided no coat and put Lily in the crib. I see the neighbors mom walking to the door with Gabriel. I open the door and see lots of blood. Ah, panic. She says "I think he is OK. His teeth seem fine." I assess and realize his lip is what seems to be bleeding. OK, so I am starting to breath again. We get washcloths, ice and the bleeding eventually stops. By the time Ryan got home from work, this is what it looked like.

 

I know it looks like he is making a pouty lip, but he really isn't. It wasn't until later last night at teeth brushing time, he complained that his teeth were hurting. Ryan tried to check them out but he was still upset and uncooperative. This morning we checked them and sure enough both of his front teeth are loose. That required a quick trip to the dentist this morning. Well, the good news, they are his baby teeth, they are not that loose. He should be loosing them in the next year anyway. So, we wait. He might just have front teeth holes longer than most kids. Thank goodness. (Oh and the swelling has gone down some too.) He now realizes, he "should have dove out of the sled before he crashed." I realize that this is probably the first of many more unforgetable mommy moments. I had to share.

The next joy that is about to begin...potty training Lily. (Let's just hope she is way easier then Gabe!)

New Pictures

As I told many of you, I had my favorite photographer, Joe T. come to the house the other week to take pictures of the kids. We managed to get the picture of both of them for the Christmas Card, but I also wanted to get some of just Lily. She really hasn't had any professional photos taken since she was a newborn. So here are my favorites. ENJOY!

 
 
 

Sharing...

OK so I have a lot to share.

First of all I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and nice time with family and friends during all the holidays. I am still celebrating with family. Tonight we have our 3rd Christmas celebration with my father-in-law and family. Crazy I know, but nice to spread it out. So, I can finally share all the handmade presents I made this year. Most have been made on the sewing machine and not with scrapbook supplies, but it was fun none the less.

I made two quilts. One for my mother-in-law and one for my step mother-in-law. I started these in July (of course, I didn't finish them until 4 days before Christmas.)

 

I made 4 quilted tote bags. One for my mom, sister, sister-in-law and soon to be sister-in-law. Here is two of the 4. They were all like this but with different fabrics.

Finally my one scrapbook type project, was making a magnetic paper doll set for a 5 year old girl. This was made using all products from QuicKutz. I had a blast making it and using my scraps to make the clothes! I put it all on a cookie sheet. I can't wait to hear if she likes it!

 

I promise my next post will have some pictures of Lily and Gabe from the photo shoot in a day or two! It is nice not to feel like I need to be sewing something. 
 

Nothing but handmade...

Sorry, I haven't been blogging but I have been busy, busy, busy! I have 6 or 7 handmade gifts I am working on for Christmas. I have been been doing nothing but creating. Unfortunately I can't share any of them until after Christmas because my family reads this. Just know I am happy with the progress and will take pictures when they are all complete. Not all are scrappin either. If things keep going like this, we will be in good shape! I will have some pictures to share of the kids soon. My favorite photographer, Joe Tacconi, was at my house this week! I pick up the photo CD with the pictures today. Yippee!
